Between June 25th and 27th, the Tellescom Group promoted, in São Paulo, the first official meeting with its International Advisory Council. Gathering specialists from different nationalities, the online and live event aimed to discuss strategies to extend the social impact of the Foundation’s educational and social urbanism projects and initiatives for the most needed communities in Brazil.

During the three-day event, participants debated the current and future challenges regarding themes such as inequality, poverty, educational deficit, and public safety, as well as shared their own global experiences that might inspire solutions for Brazil and other emerging economies.

Among the highlights, it was detailed how the Foundation has been partnering with public sector entities and private stakeholders to mitigate the lack of access to education, promote inclusive innovation and technology in both basic and continued education for teachers, and develop social urbanism programs in vulnerable territories.

The honorable council advisors included:

  • Dr. Josep Miquel Piqué, President of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP), a global reference in innovation ecosystems;
  • Aicha Bah Diallo, consultant for educational projects in Africa and Europe and member of global councils linked to UNESCO;
  • Dr. Qian Tang, former Assistant Director-General for Education at UNESCO, with extensive experience in public policy and educational development;
  • Dr. Antonio Carlos Amaral, Ph.D. and Master in Law (USP), LL.M. (Harvard), Visiting Scholar (Columbia), Law Professor at Mackenzie University, and corporate lawyer.

The council also underlined the importance of coordinated strategies and actions between organizations and community agents to ensure sustainable outcomes, and highlighted the relevance of expanding global alliances and strengthening cooperation networks.

According to Marco Jerez Telles, Founder and CEO of the Tellescom Group, “indifference in the face of inequality is Brazil’s greatest challenge.” That is why the Group, together with the Tellescom Foundation, led by Américo Mattar, its President, works to transform lives through quality education, dignified housing and socioeconomic development.

The event solidified the Tellescom Foundation’s commitment to developing long-term projects that could serve as references for others in Brazil and abroad, with a focus on community participation and innovation as drivers of social change.
